12.4.14 | London Handel Festival: Troppo cruda, troppo fiera
Troppo cruda, troppo fiera
Handel’s Italian Duets for Soprano and Alto Oxford Baroque present an exploration of Handel’s exquisite yet little-known Italian duets for soprano and alto, featurning two of today’s most exciting emerging baroque soloists, English soprano, Robyn Allegra Parton and Italian countertenor, Raffaele Pè. Handel produced duets at several stages of his career, between Germany, Italy and in England. This concert includes the last of his duets, the heart-wrenching Ahi, nelle sorti umane, dating from the 1740s, when Handel had settled in London.
“Robyn Allegra Parton was all attitude and on top of everything” – Gramophone
“A strong contender for lovers of baroque vocal music; Raffaele Pé is a discovery, indeed, a challenge to the likes of Andreas Scholl and Philippe Jaroussky.’ – Music Web International
